Matfen Hall played host to our magical Christmas Concert that left attendees enchanted and filled with the spirit of the season. The Great Hall, adorned with a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree and a crackling fire, provided a warm and festive welcome to all our guests.

The evening began with the Concert Band taking centre stage, showcasing their musical talents under the expert guidance of our Director of Music, Mr. Fowlds. They not only performed enchanting pieces of their own but also accompanied the congregation as they sang classic Christmas carols, including the timeless favorites "O Come, All Ye Faithful" and "O Little Town of Bethlehem."

A special highlight of the evening was the performance by the Senior Choir, supported by the Parents’ Choir, as they beautifully rendered "As With Gladness" by Bob Chilcott. The powerful voices of the choir resonated through the hall, creating a truly uplifting and festive atmosphere. The congregation enthusiastically joined the choir in singing the heart warming Christmas carols.

Adding a contemporary twist to the evening, the Year 7 Rock Group took the stage and delivered a lively rendition of "Last Christmas" by George Michael, showcasing their talent and bringing a modern flair to the concert.

The soloists stole the spotlight with exceptional performances, whether it was singing, playing instruments, or captivating the audience with heartfelt readings. Each soloist demonstrated a high standard of skill and confidence, contributing to the overall success of the event.

The choir, stationed on the sweeping staircase, transported the audience to winter wonderlands with their rendition of three beautiful songs. 

As one parent put it, "Matfen was a triumph. Amazing performance and an incredible atmosphere."
