World Book Week 2020
“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all,” said Irish poet and playwright, Oscar Wilde.
Here at Mowden, we LOVE to read books over and again, and today, in celebration of World Book Day 2020, we came together in our four Houses to do just that - to read and share books we have enjoyed reading over time.
The value of shared reading cannot be underestimated. It provides opportunities to expand vocabulary; read fluently and with expression; demonstrate decoding and comprehension strategies; teach phonics; demonstrate how to use structure and visual information cues to assist reading and, of course, sharing a book together promotes confidence and enjoyment.
