Mowden Hall School's International Week: A Celebration of Diversity and Inclusivity
Mowden Hall School recently observed an inspiring and successful International Week, as a key part of its Diversity and Inclusivity Week. This event was a vibrant testament to the school's commitment to fostering a culture of understanding and appreciation of global diversity among its students.
Students from Nursery to Year 8 engaged in an explorative project, researching different countries. The result was an array of informative displays in the dining room, featuring silhouettes, speech bubbles, and images that reflected their newfound knowledge about global cultures.
A key activity was learning how to greet each other in various languages, symbolising the acceptance and celebration of linguistic diversity. The video this produced will be available online shortly.
The week began with an informative assembly, followed by intensive research on assigned countries. This activity encouraged students to delve into different cultures, enhancing their global awareness.
Capitalising on the momentum of International Week, we have introduced the 'House Nations Challenge.' This new house competition aims to sustain the spirit of international understanding and cultural appreciation, reinforcing the principles of Diversity and Inclusivity Week.
Through these initiatives, Mowden Hall School has not only celebrated the rich tapestry of global cultures but has also instilled in its students a deep respect for diversity and inclusivity. The International Week was a great success, highlighting the school's dedication to preparing its students as global citizens.
