On 6th February Mowden Hall pupils welcomed 31 pupils and 2 staff from Sedbergh Prep School to engage in a day of enrichment activities designed to prepare pupils for aspects of scholarship application. The day consisted of 4 core tasks, which the mixed Mowden/Sedbergh groups rotated between. The 4 activities were as follows: CV Design, Command Tasks, Politico-Philosophical Debate and Tactics and Strategy. The assessment of these tasks very much focused on developing strands of higher level cognitive thinking and skills: design, creation, advance use of IT, verbal skills of presentation, persuasive language, collaboration, synthesis, leadership, problem solving, strategy development, independent research along with a good dose of logical consideration. The pupils gained a huge amount from what was a very intense day of scholarly endeavour.
