Ampleforth Cricket Festival

On Tuesday the 21st of June 2022 the year four and five boys and girls travelled to Ampleforth College for a cricket skills day. The weather was glorious, and we were joined by Terrington and St Mary's along with several local schools for a fun day of games and skills. The children were split into groups and joined with Terrington in order to play the first round of games. We practiced matches with lots of different twists, including a hot ball rule - if a batsman needed a second attempt at hitting the ball. We then had a break and switched to the skills part of the day. We practised batting by trying to get a perfect arc hitting from a cone, and bowling by trying to hit a stump and brushing your ear with your arm straight and we practised throwing and catching by trying to hit a stump and catching a ball that we threw at a net. Everyone had a brilliant day and would like to thank Ampleforth and the teachers for organising it.
