Mowden Hall School

Leading Co-Educational Independent Prep School For Children aged 3-13 Years

Prep School Sports Day

Sports Day is always an important day in the calendar at Mowden Hall, and the two year hiatus during the pandemic gave the pupils even further incentive to demonstrate their prowess on the track and in the field. The day began with the resurrected tradition of family picnics on Park Field - a wonderful opportunity for families to come together at School and celebrate the return of this wonderful event.

The serious competition began, with pupils taking on the challenge of the sprint hurdles event - brand new for 2022! From there, the afternoon was action packed with running, jumping and throwing as the four houses jostled for position atop the leader board. Alongside the intensity of the house competition, came the opportunity to have some fun - with egg & spoon races, bean bag races, sack races and skipping races providing much enjoyment and laughter! After the final race of the afternoon, a thrilling senior girls 4 x 100m relay, came the announcement of the victorious house - the children were uncharacteristically quiet as the totals were announced! In 4th place with 536 points was Stephenson. In joint second place on 554 points were Collingwood and Bewick - leaving those in green cheering the loudest, as House Captain of Grey House, Eliza Riddell, was invited to collect the House Athletics Shield - winning with an impressive 598 points! Well done to all the children who took part, and particularly to 2022 winners Grey House.
